Coastal-plain soils soak and dry in cycles, clay shrinks and swells, fill washes out from under slabs, and crawl spaces breathe tropical humidity for most of the year. A repair approach imported from somewhere drier doesn't hold up.
Ours starts with the water. Assessments look at drainage, downspouts, and grading alongside the structure, because piers under a house whose lot is still funneling water at the foundation is half a job. And the structural work itself — steel piers to load-bearing soil, treated lumber in crawl spaces, waterproof polyurethane under slabs — uses methods chosen for how this climate behaves, not what's cheapest to install.
